Biography

Daniel Costantini began his career as a teacher in high school from 1967 to 1975 , then in higher sports for 10 years (1975-1985). From 1973 to 1985 he was coach to a famous handball club and became National coach in France in July 1985.

Himself, a Handball player, he won three titles as an athlete, Champion of France in 1965, 1967 and 1969. As a coach, he won the Championship of France in 1975 and 1984 and also the Coupe de France in 1976.

Daniel Costantini was appointed coach and national coach of the French handball team. In this role he won a Bronze medal at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992 and a Silver Medal at World 1993 in Sweden. France became World Champion, the following year, at the World Olympics Japan.

In 2000, he led the national team into the semi-finals of European Championships in Croatia and in France the following year, he won for the second time the title of World Champion. Daniel Costantini is considered by his peers and by sports commentators as the coach who helped the French Handball team become the most celebrated World Handball Team.

Since the end of his career, Daniel Costantini is a consultant on Canal + Sport and RMC . He advises in Human Resources. He chairs the Comission “Great Rooms”, under the aegis of the Ministry of Health, Youth and Sports (2009-2010). Finally he is Chairman of Ambition – Sport Club under the auspices of the French NOC.

For all of his records and his contribution to the sport and the French influence of France abroad, Daniel Costantini was made a Knight of the National Order of Merit (1995), Knight of the Legion of Honor (2001) and Knight of the Order of Academic Palms (2002).
