Top Mental Health Speakers – 2022

We live in a world where mental health struggles are prevalent, with no indication of abating. Employers and employees are becoming increasingly aware of the reciprocal relationship between work and mental well-being.

Organisations may be aware of this issue, but don’t have the tools to approach it in the most effective way. Our diverse network of experts provide insights, helping individuals and organisations meaningfully engage with this topic. Ironically, one of the few certainties we all face, is the reality of uncertainty. Therefore, becoming more resilient and adaptable should be a priority in this modern era.

The mental well-being of employees is shaped by their working conditions, and the success of every business is impacted by the well-being of its employees. Depression and anxiety cost the global economy around $1trillion per year in lost productivity, and as many of the below speakers’ work has shown, there is a direct increase in innovation, engagement and performance in the workplace when employees are happy.

Listed below are London Speaker Bureau’s top mental health speakers. These speakers both shed light on the intricacies of the mind and suggest tangible ways of improving the happiness and mental well-being of employees. With World Mental Health month reminding us that depression is the most widespread health ailment in the world, it has never been more imperative to engage in these issues.

Felicity Aston

Felicity Aston

Explorer, Scientist and Author

Felicity Aston, MBE, is a polar explorer, scientist and author. She has broken numerous world records; the first woman to journey across Antartica’s landmass alone, and the only person to have done so using muscle power. During these extreme expeditions, Aston pushes herself both mentally and physically, noting that “the psychological journey is often more interesting than the physical journey itself”.

Aston has spoken about the profound loneliness she experienced traversing Antarctica. For 59 days, Felicity saw no one: not even another life form. Following the pandemic, her tactics for dealing with this isolation, and her insights on reintegrating with society have resonated with many. Her motto ‘just get out the tent,’ encapsulates her personal battle in Antarctica to face, every morning, the -50°C climate outside her tent, and the perseverance we must all call upon in moments of adversity.

In her latest book, “Life Lessons from Explorers”, Aston investigates how 15 famous explorers have shaped the world of leadership and adaptability. By drawing from their experiences, she is able to offer rare insights into the “explorer’s mindset” and why this concept can benefit everyone, both personally and professionally.
