Oliver Lewis is one of the few tech investors who has been twice deployed to Afghanistan and led major efforts in reforming how the UK government prepares for emerging technology. He is the co-founder of Rebellion, a tech startup in Washington DC building products for the mission of national defence. At fifteen, Oliver was the youngest technologist employed by Oxford University to bring cutting-edge technology into academia.
Lewis built a public sector business for billion-dollar startup called Improbable, and then directed corporate development. Applying groundbreaking cloud computing simulation to everything from government to the games industry, Improbable was one of the fastest procured companies in the history of UK and US defence.
Often working alongside the UK and US military, Oliver Lewis was the principal advisor to two successive British brigade commanders in Helmand Province, Afghanistan in 2012. He is the co-founder of the Near Future Society, an Anglo-American non-profit group of leaders in entertainment, politics and technology dedicated to creating more truthful, compelling and optimistic stories about our future. Lewis has also recently been awarded a research fellowship at the University of Southern California.
