Biography

Dr Susan Liautaud is the Founder and Managing Director of a London-based international consulting firm advising corporate, non-profit, and governmental leaders on complex ethics matters. Her work ranges from ethics as a critical strategic opportunity and risk management tool to solving complex ethics challenges to understanding today’s most complex technology-based ethical conundrums.

Liautaud also teaches University-wide innovative ethics courses at Stanford University called Ethics on the Edge and Ethics of Truth in a Post-Truth World. She regularly speaks on topics ranging from Uber’s ethics debacle to Libor rate-rigging, the Wells Fargo and VW scandals, pharmaceutical industry challenges, corporate social responsibility, corporate ethics as risk management, and beyond. Guests in Dr Liautaud's class include a wide range of CEOs and senior leaders of global NGOs and corporations.

Liautaud serves as Vice Chair of the Court of Governors of London School of Economics and Political Science and Chair of the LSE’s Ethics Policy Committee.

She recently launched an independent, cross-sector platform for discussing today’s most pressing ethics issues called the Ethics Incubator. Interviewees range from Twitter Co-Founder Biz Stone to the late V&A Museum Director Martin Roth to renowned author Salman Rushdie.

Business leaders whom she has interviewed over the years include the Cross-Bench leader of the UK House of Lords Baroness Frances d’Souza, the Chairman of Pearson, the Chairman and former CEO of Logitech, and the CEO of the Environmental Defense Fund.

By way of additional background: she formerly served as Associate Dean for International and Graduate Programs at Stanford Law School and as an international corporate lawyer at Sullivan & Cromwell. She serves on several non-profit boards, including Pasteur Institute Board, Care International Supervisory Board, and the American Hospital of Paris Board of Governors. She recently stepped down as Chair of Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontieres US National Board of Advisors. Dr Liautaud also serves on the French Ambassador to the UK’s Foreign Trade Advisory Council.
