Vladimir Pirozhkov is a world-leading designer and innovator, renowned for designing the interiors of Toyota and Citroen's best-selling cars.
He is founder of the AstraRossa Industrial Design and Innovation Center in Russia, which cultivates R&D, and creates globally competitive, innovative projects and products. Pirozhkov is internationally respected for his ideas on transforming innovative projects into successful products, activating intellectual capital, and thinking ahead of the curve.
He studied Industrial Design at the Sverdlovsk Architectural Institute, and in the late 1980s moved to Switzerland for an internship at Luigi Colani’s world renowned Design Buro. The internship turned into a 2 year contract, and he worked with companies such as Adidas, Ferrari, and Yves Saint Laurent. In 1993 he won a scholarship to continue his studies in Switzerland at the Art Center College of Design.
From 1994-2000 Pirozhkov was the Interior Designer at Citroen, and worked on the development of their best-selling models C3, C3 Pluriel, C4 Coupe, C5, and C6. Having left Citroen, he spent 7 years as a Senior Designer in the Toyota Europe Design Development team, and worked on top-selling models such as Yaris, Avensis, Auris, Corolla, RAV4, Celica, Prius, and IQ. Pirozhkov was also in charge of the "Advanced Design" department, developing concepts for the cars to be produced in 2020-2025.
After an unprecedented career and 20 years experience in leading international corporations, in 2007 he returned to Russia and established AstraRossa – a diversified Centre of Industrial Design and Innovation. AstraRossa introduces innovative ideas to manufacturing, and educates new generations of designers in Russia. Pirozhkov also teaches transportation design at leading colleges and schools of arts in Europe and Russia.
