Biography

Martha Lane Fox, Baroness Lane-Fox of Soho, is founder and executive chair of Doteveryone.org.uk, a charity fighting for a fairer internet. Prior to this, Lane Fox co-founded Europe’s largest travel and leisure website, lastminute.com with Brent Hoberman. They took it public in 2000 and sold it in 2005 for approximately £571 million.

Martha is also a non-executive director at Marks & Spencer, MyDeco.com and the Women’s Prize for Fiction. She co-founded and chairs Lucky Voice, a private karaoke bar group, revolutionising the karaoke industry.

Martha Lane Fox is a Non-Executive Director at Marks & Spencer plc, Channel 4 Television, Mydeco and chairs the board of the digital skills charity, Go ON UK. She joined the House of Lords as a crossbencher in 2013, becoming its youngest female member. Martha was also appointed as Chancellor of the Open University as of March 2014.

In March 2014 she was appointed Chancellor of the Open University. Following her Dimbleby lecture in 2015 Martha is founded Doteveryone.org.uk, a charity fighting for a fairer internet. In April 2016 she was appointed as a non executive director of Twitter.

She is also a non executive director of the Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction, the Creative industries federation, the Scale Up Institute and the Open Data Institute.

Martha Lane Fox was appointed Commander of The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2013 New Year Honours for "services to the digital economy and charity". Martha was made a CBE in the New Year Honours List 2013. In March 2013, she was appointed a crossbench peer in the House of Lords, becoming the youngest female member, taking the title Baroness Lane-Fox of Soho
