James Woudhuysen is Professor of Forecasting and Innovation at De Montfort University in Leicester, and advisor to corporations and governments on the future of technology. He specialises in the fields of IT, energy and the home.
As a renowned forecaster, James has needed to stay ahead of events. In 1983 he completed an instruction manual for word processing software. In 1988, James led an international multi-client study on e-commerce. In 1993, he proposed that the Internet be delivered over TV. In 2004, in his book Why is Construction so Backward?, he predicted the current problems for Freddie Mac in the US. His latest book is Energise! A Future for Energy Innovation.
James was a director of Fitch plc, then the world\’s largest firm of design consultants. During the early 1990s, James led consulting in IT and urban development at the Henley Centre for Forecasting. After that, he was responsible for global market intelligence at Philips Consumer Electronics in the Netherlands, where he was also nominated Motivator of the Year.
His recent clients include Amadeus, Nokia, Orange, and SAP.
