Biography

Nick Danziger is a world renowned photo-journalist, photographer, film maker and travel writer.

As Tony Blair took the final steps towards leading the nation to war with Iraq, Danziger was given unprecedented access to the Prime Minister and his closest aides to tell the candid story of a decisive time in Britain’s political history. Revealing the inner circle of the political players in Downing Street, at Camp David and in the power corridors of Europe, these portraits provide a poignant insight into Blair’s hopes and fears as he took on a sceptical electorate, the Labour Party, Jacques Chirac and ultimately Saddam Hussein. This work resulted in the Times magazine’s longest photo-essay and an exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery.

As with Tony Blair, the Dalai Lama and others, his unique and unprecedented access with Heads of State, Presidents and Prime Ministers, Danziger had been the only photographer to go deep inside the sacred space of the world’ most successful sports team, the All Blacks – revealing the highs and the lows of the world’s most iconic sporting team.

Danziger has followed the lives of eleven remarkable women across war zones for over a decade to provide a unique insight about the experiences and specific needs of women during armed conflict and in countries where women also battle tradition and extreme poverty to survive against tremendous odds.

Danziger has won numerous awards for his work, amongst them is an Honorary Fellowship awarded by the Royal Photographic Society, and the Royal Geographical Society’s Ness Award in recognition of raising public understanding of contemporary social, political and environmental issues through documentary films and photography.

His work on women in conflict continues to tour the world having been exhibited at the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa and the Imperial War Museum in London. Amongst his most recent work is an exclusive insight in to the lives of North Koreans which was the first time such images have been exhibited in South Korea.
