Biography

Rudolf Woetzel was an investment banker who ran the mergers and acquisitions business for Deutsche Bank in Switzerland for seven years and went on to become head of mergers and acquisitions for Lehman Brothers for Germany. He turned his back on his professional career in 2007, and hiked 1800 km through the Alps, a turning point in Wötzel’s life.

Rudolf completed a Masters of Business Administration at the prestigious INSEAD Institute, before he struck his career first as a top management consultant and then as an investment banker. Just before the financial crisis he left the investment bank Lehman Brothers, his mind and body no longer able to cope with the extreme stresses of his demanding career. He hiked from Salzburg to Nice and surpassed the many four-and three-thousand metre high mountains.

Rudolf Woetzel speaks openly and honestly as an insider about the financial world and its problems since the economic crisis began. He knows the fatal mechanism of the capital market and overstrained financial professionals. He talks about his own life in the fast lane, the world of the elite, fear of failure, and his reasons for the exit and transit to something new. Rudolf encourages and inspires making a new start whether on the small or large scale.

Today Rudolf understands himself as manager of his own life. He passes on his experience as a popular coach for executives and in the summer he manages an alpine hut in the Swiss mountains.
