Interview with Belinda Parmar OBE – Founder and CEO of The Empathy Business

Belinda Parmar is the creator of the Global Empathy Index published in the Harvard Business Review. Specialising in responsible leadership, language and conflict resolution, Belinda works alongside CEOs and leaders of large organisations to transform companies using the science of empathy.

Previously, Belinda Parmar was Empathy-In-Residence at Centrica and Barclays Bank, one of the world’s biggest energy companies and set up an Empathy Hub in Europe’s largest bank. She is also the creator of the Global Empathy Index which was published in the Harvard Business Review.

In 2015 she was awarded an OBE by the Queen for her services to women in technology.

Throughout her career, she has received numerous honours and awards. She spoke at Davos as a Young Global Leader for the World Economic Forum, published two books and was voted as one of the top 20 Global Public Figures in Diversity in 2020, alongside Kamala Harris.

With major changes in the last year as to how we work and questions as to how our future hybrid model might look, we discussed with Belinda the role of empathy within leadership today, the importance of workforce mental health and what we could expect as we move forward.
