Greg Lindsay is a senior fellow with MIT’s Future Urban Collectives Lab, Arizona State’s Threatcasting Lab, and the Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Strategy Initiative, specialising in urban innovation and strategic foresight.
A former chief communications officer for the climate analytics startup AlphaGeo, he advises on urban tech, AI, and augmented reality’s impact on cities. His work at Threat Casting Lab “uses a foresight methodology to help entities like NATO and the U.S. Secret Service think about threats, including; “what happens when we’re being preyed upon by algorithms and AI.”
During this interview, Greg Lindsay explores the impact emerging technologies will have on the future of work and employment. He poses the important question; “how do we ensure AI is used equitably, and not just simply concentrated in the hands of a few… like OpenAI and Microsoft.”
Technology has allowed people to connect more; ironically, we have never been more lonely. Greg dives into how this will change in the coming years, stating; “we’re losing our ability to connect to each other… we need to regain that function.” He also discusses the link between mental health and social media, “we’ve all been subject to some forms of digital manipulation.”
The renowned futurist discusses how urban areas will evolve over the next 20-30 years as well as how the insurance sector is adapting in the face of climate change. He also delves into the dynamic between innovation in tech and the protection of the planet.
What impact will this all have on us? Greg Lindsay covers this and more during the exclusive interview.
