Cathy Newman is a journalist and broadcaster, who is the first female main presenter of Channel 4 News. With over a decade of experience in Fleet Street, including a tenure at the Financial Times, Cathy has established herself as a leading voice in British journalism since joining Channel 4 News in 2006. Her investigative prowess has led to a series of high-profile scoops, including ground-breaking reports on allegations of violent abuse against barrister John Smyth, sexual harassment claims involving Liberal Democrat peer Lord Rennard, and a critical investigation into British sex offender Simon Harris, resulting in a 17-year prison sentence.
Many of her incisive studio interviews have gone viral, attracting millions of views online. Her confrontational interview with Canadian academic Jordan Peterson and her discussion with former motor-racing tycoon Max Mosley were particularly notable, with the latter earning a nomination for a Royal Television Society Award in 2019 and making the cover of Private Eye. She also presents the Friday Drivetime programme on Times Radio.
