Inspired by nature and always ready to discover new horizons, Géraldine Fasnacht is a freeride champion who also practices base jumping and wingsuit flying. She is a specialist in risk management, high performance, and self-improvement.
Born in Lausanne, Switzerland, Fasnacht started skiing and snowboarding at a young age. At 21, she won the X-Treme competition in Verbier, known as the world’s toughest freeride competition. This marked the beginning of her freerider career, during which she has obtained 11 international victories and 23 further podiums around the globe.
But freeriding isn’t her only passion. After 300 parachute jumps, she started base jumping before falling in love with wingsuits. In 2009, Fasnacht organised an expedition, along with three other adventurers, to complete the first wingsuit flight over the Earth’s southernmost continent. In 2014, she became the first person to jump from the Matterhorn, the famous alpine summit at 4,478 meters above sea level, in a wingsuit. In 2016, she completed the first wingsuit flight from the highest Swiss summit, Mount Rose (4634m).
Nicknamed “the bird-woman”, Fasnacht is a true lover of adventure and nature: “My drug is the mountain,” she says. “Whether flying in the air or on the snow, I need to be in a pure universe and in contact with the elements.”
Today, Géraldine Fasnacht divides her time between various projects including her coaching activities (supporting young people through Mountain Line Foundation, the association she founded to foster budding athletes who practices skiing, snowboarding freeride or mountain biking), and her keynote speaking work.
She has been named “Adventurer of the Year” in 2021 by Paris Match.
