Laura Kenny, CBE, is a professional track and road cyclist, primarily competing in the omnium, team pursuit and scratch race divisions. She is one of the most successful cyclists in Olympic history, holding six medals, four of which are gold. Dame Laura Kenny is one of the most recognised sports women on the planet and Britain’s greatest ever female Olympian. Adored by her fans as much for her personality as for her domination in the velodrome. In winning her fifth Olympic gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Laura became the first British woman to win gold at three consecutive Olympic Games, and Britain’s most successful female Olympian.
She is a long-standing Adidas athlete and has published a book “The Inside Track” with her husband Sir Jason Kenny, Britain’s most decorated Olympian in history. She has been awarded the prestigious Bidlake Memorial Prize; Harper’s Bazaar ‘Sporting Icons’ award alongside Dame Sarah Storey; and her and teammate Katie Archibald became ‘Sky Sports Team of the Year’ for their Madison gold medal in Tokyo at The Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year. In 2021 Laura made her punditry debut on Eurosport at the inaugural UCI Track Champions League, and again live from the Strade Bianche in 2023.
Dame Laura and Sir Jason were named in the 2021 New Year Honours List and received their titles together, in May 2022, at Windsor Castle. Titles befitting their achievements and ones they were both truly honoured to receive. On 18th March 2024 Dame Laura retired from cycling citing it was only the beginning of ‘the next chapter’ and we can’t wait to see what’s to come.
