Biography

Sara Davison is an author and podcaster whose expertise on the issues surrounding divorce, breakup and domestic abuse has made her a global name. Known as The Divorce Coach, Sara empowers people to take back control of their lives post-breakup, while providing a framework for business to support employees suffering personal turmoil. Her training school, The International Divorce Coach Centre of Excellence, has trained over 700 coaches around the world, in five continents. She is a founding member of Tatler magazine’s High Net Worth Guide to Divorce, and is a seasoned media performer in both the US and UK.

Statistics show that the effects of a split do not impact on family life alone. Divorce can reduce employee productivity by up to 40% over three years, and relationship breakdown costs US industry $300 billion each year in decreased productivity. This includes lost wages, sick pay and time off work. Sara has addressed many organisations, including AMV BDDO, the UK Government, Mott MacDonald, BMS, Volvo, Dell, Tokyo Marine Kiln, Regatta and Barry Callebaut, and her coaching centre has provided training for HR and management for businesses, as well as family law departments.

With over thirty years of coaching under her belt, Sara draws on her own experience of domestic abuse. Over one in five workers are victims of domestic abuse, with three-quarters of them being harassed in their places of work, and it can lead to problems of absenteeism, presenteeism, performance anxiety and lost output. A sympathetic and supportive management strategy creates loyal and highly-motivated employees who are invested in the company and help deliver long-term growth.

Sara’s books, Uncoupling: How to Survive and Thrive after Breakup and Divorce and The Split: From Breakup to Breakthrough in 30 Days or Less were both bestsellers. Her podcast, Heartbreak to Happiness, has been downloaded over 650,000 times, in which she addresses issues around divorce, including mental health, finance, children and new relationships. In 2013, Sara launched the first ever Breakup Recovery Retreat: this was later turned into a TV series.

She is Patron of domestic abuse charity DASH and in 2024 joined the advisory board for R;pple Suicide Prevention, an online tool that flags self-harm and suicide content on social media. Sara is a qualified NLP Master Practitioner with additional training in hypnotherapy and public speaking.
