Biography

Wei Du is a highly experienced, versatile talent who directs, produces, and presents documentaries and current affairs programs for CNA.

She was named Best Factual Presenter at the Asian Academy Creative Awards in 2024 and was a nominee for Presenter of the Year at the AIB Awards in London.

Wei’s multi-disciplinary approach allows her to deliver in-depth, nuanced content with an authentic personal touch, as evidenced by her most recent work, Walk the Line, a groundbreaking three-part documentary series that saw Wei following a group of Chinese migrants on their perilous journey through Latin America to reach the United States.

Her previous longform programmes have also won multiple international accolades, and her work on China is particularly noteworthy. The three-part documentary series, China’s Growing Appetite, examined China’s global influence through the lens of food production. Her recent observational documentary One Way focused on Hong Kongers leaving the city for the UK.

Since joining CNA in 2010, Wei has served as a business presenter in Singapore and a roving correspondent based out of Hong Kong. She has covered a wide range of major events, including the protests in Hong Kong, disbarment talks on the Korean peninsula, and the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

Wei speaks fluent English and Chinese. She has a Master’s degree from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. In 2020, she was selected as a Journalist Fellow at the University of Oxford’s Reuters Institute.

Her professional career started at CNBC U.S. Before joining CNA, Wei worked as an on-air reporter for Bloomberg TV in Hong Kong.
