Biography

A professional skipper for over 20 years, Christopher PRATT has never dreamed of doing anything other than sailing. Sailing at the highest level, has always been his ambition. After studying a course in sport studies and winning the Vice World Champion title in dinghy sailing at just 18 years old, he took part in some of the greatest races in his field (Solitaire du Figaro, Transat Jacques Vabre, Transat AG2R, Tour de France à la voile, Route du Rhum, etc.). A rising young talent, he won the Challenge Espoir Crédit Agrilcole in 2005 and the Filières du Talent DCNS in 2008. He put in a remarkable performance in the Route du Rhum 2010, despite being the youngest in the IMOCA class.

He then went on to work with renowned skippers such as Armel Le Cleac’h and Jérémie Beyou, winning two successive podium finishes in the Transat Jacques Vabre in 2011 and 2013. After his return to Figaro racing in the summer of 2016, he lined up for the start of the 2017 Transat Jacques Vabre in a Multi 50, on which he experienced a fortune at sea. Never discouraged, he finished 4th in the Transat AG2R, the following year. He was part of the Charal Sailing Team for almost 4 years, winning two 3rd places in the Transat Jacques Vabre. Relying on his skills and unwavering commitment, Jérémie Beyou appointed him Replacement Skipper for the 2020 Vendée Globe. In 2022, Christopher joined the Spindrift crew for 3 attempts at the Jules Vernes Trophy. He was then called by Team Malizia to take part in the 4th leg of The Ocean Race, on which they finished 2nd. After working as a consultant for Team Maxime Sorel, he will be at the start of the Transat Jacques Vabres 2023 as co- skipper on the IMOCA V&B-Monbana-Mayenne.

Christopher Pratt is also an ambitious and accomplished entrepreneur. In parallel to his sporting career, he co-founded MARSAIL in 2008, a company specialising in nautical events, and then developed managerial support solutions for companies using the specific tools of offshore racing. Passionate about Sport- Company interactions, he has worked with the Sport MG Performance research laboratory at the University of Aix-Marseille on decision making and motivation in extreme environments. Today, the Marsail experience is accelerating with the acquisition of the racing trimaran WIND OF TRUST.
