Dr Gerard Lyons is a leading international economist, writer, thought leader and public speaker, based in London. The Times has described him as, “One of the most influential analysts of the global economy.”
He is able to convey complex issues in an easy to understand way, having been at the cutting edge of economic and financial issues and a changing geo-political landscape for three decades. During this time he has visited 82 countries on business and he is able to share a wealth of knowledge and experience about global developments.
Currently Gerard Lyons holds a portfolio of roles, including: a Board member of the Bank of China (UK); Chief Economic Strategist at the challenger wealth manager Netwealth; member of the Advisory Board of the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at the LSE and Imperial College; and a member of the Advisory Board of Warwick Business School.
Prior to this, Lyons was Chief Economic Advisor to the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson from 2013-16, and he spent 25 years in senior roles in The City at Chase Manhattan, Swiss Bank, DKB International and Standard Chartered Bank, where he was Global Head of Research, Advisor to the Board and Chief Economist. He has testified to committees of the US Senate and Congress and of both Houses of the UK Parliament and has spoken in the Great Hall of the People, Beijing and at Davos.
Gerard Lyons is often in the media and in the last four weeks alone has written columns in The Financial Times, Times, The Sunday Times, Sunday Telegraph as well as full-length interviews in The Daily Telegraph and Mail on Sunday.
In 2016 he was the co-author of ‘Clean Brexit’. He has a PhD in economics from the University of London. He has topped forecasting polls and has often been early to anticipate new global trends.
