Biography

What if the greatest barrier to high performance isn’t capability – but the culture people work in?

Every organisation wants people who perform at their best. Yet too often, hidden barriers such as poor psychological safety, identity threat and bias prevent talented individuals from contributing their full potential. The result is lower engagement, reduced innovation, poorer wellbeing and missed opportunities – for individuals, teams and organisations.

Dr Amrita Sen Mukherjee helps organisations change that.

A TEDx speaker, GP, accredited Positive Psychology Practitioner and Coach, and published researcher, Amrita helps leaders and teams build healthier, more inclusive and higher-performing cultures where people feel confident to contribute, collaborate and thrive. Combining evidence-based psychology, behavioural science and compelling storytelling, she equips audiences with practical strategies that strengthen trust, belonging, leadership and sustainable performance.

Amrita’s work is shaped by more than fifteen years of clinical experience and internationally recognised research into post-traumatic growth, alongside her own lived experience of acquiring an invisible disability. Rather than defining her, this experience transformed the way she understands human performance, identity and leadership, giving her a distinctive perspective on how organisations unlock potential by creating environments where people feel psychologically safe enough to perform at their best.

Her TEDx talk and award-winning research have established her as a recognised voice on identity, psychological safety, belonging and sustainable performance. She has advised and spoken for organisations including EY, DHL, Generali, DAC Beachcroft, NHBC and NHS organisations, and has been invited to speak at the House of Lords, the General Medical Council (GMC), international academic conferences and private equity leadership events.

Organisations work with Amrita because she moves conversations beyond wellbeing initiatives to address the cultural conditions that drive long-term performance. Her keynotes help leaders build trust, improve collaboration, navigate change with confidence and create workplaces where people feel seen, valued and able to do their best work. Audiences leave with practical, evidence-based strategies they can apply immediately – creating lasting impact long after the event has finished.

Known for combining scientific credibility with warmth, authenticity and relatable storytelling, Amrita creates thought-provoking experiences that challenge assumptions, inspire action and leave audiences feeling empowered to think differently about themselves, each other and the cultures they create.

Whether speaking to senior leaders, global organisations or professional audiences, Amrita’s message is simple: when people feel safe enough to contribute fully, individuals flourish, teams perform better and organisations become stronger.
