Ben Thompson specialises in international business and finance and it’s a role that’s taken him right around the world presenting and reporting for television, radio and online. Based in New York and Washington, Ben was the BBC’s North America Business Correspondent, with a special focus on the US Presidential Elections.
Prior to taking up his latest role in London, Ben Thompson spent three years in Dubai as the BBC’s Middle East Business Correspondent. He reported from Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Lebanon, Tunisia, Egypt, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and the UAE, with a mix of breaking news and documentary features. Experienced in covering ‘hard news’ as well as ‘lighter stories’, Thompson reported extensively on the global financial crisis and its impact around the region, as well as anchoring live coverage for the BBC of the opening of the Burj Khalifa and the Palm Jumeirah. Thompson also presented the BBC’s flagship news programme from the region – ‘BBC Middle East Business Report’.
