Biography

Carl Bernstein had one of the greatest impacts any journalist has had on American history, breaking the Watergate scandal with Bob Woodward for The Washington Post. His most recent book is an investigative biography: “A Woman in Charge: The Life of Hillary Rodham Clinton”, which quickly became a New York Times and national besteller. In addition to this, with Woodward he co-authored two classic bestsellers: “All the President’s Men” (which subsequently became a movie starring Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman) about their coverage of Watergate, and “The Final Days” about the denouement of the Nixon presidency. He also covered Pope John Paul II in a biography co-authored with Marco Politi, “His Holiness: John Paul II and this History of Our Time”. The book was the first to detail the Pope’s pivotal, and often secret, role in the fall of communism.

In the political season of 1999-2001, Bernstein served as editor and executive vice president of Voter.com, a pioneering website that Forbes magazine named the best political site on the internet. The site initiated the now-standard practice of amassing and consolidating content from multiple sites. He has written (and been a contributing editor) for Vanity Fair, TIME magazine, USA Today, Rolling Stone and The New Republic. Carl is also a frequent guest and analyst on television news programs, and recently wrote articles for Newsweek/The Daily Beast, comparing Rupert Murdoch’s News of The World phone-hacking scandal to Watergate.
