Carl Bildt is one of the most well-known and highly respected elder statesmen, speaker, and writer who has held many high-profile positions, including Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs in Sweden.
Known for his mastery of diplomacy, Bildt has taken on leading roles in international peace negotiations, including roles as Special Representative for the Balkans to the United Nations Secretary-General, High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina, co-Chairman of the Dayton Peace Conference, and Special Ambassador of the European Union to the Former Yugoslavia.
He served as Chair of the Global Commission on Internet Governance, monitoring and reporting to policymakers on how they use the internet for communication. In 2021 Bildt was selected to be the World Health Organization’s Special Envoy for the Access to COVID-19 Tools Accelerator (ACT Accelerator).
As one of the world’s leading political figures, Bildt continues to mediate behind the scenes for peace treaties and conflict settlement.
