FC is a renowned ethical hacker and social engineer, as well as global keynote speaker and author. He has been working in the cyber security field for over 25 years and has helped thousands of banks, governments and other organisations advance their security. FC is Co-Founder of the cyber security company Cygenta, where he tests weaknesses in physical, personnel and digital controls to help organisations be more secure.
FC is the author of the bestselling book “How I rob banks”, and advises organisations on how to create a secure, safe environment. As an ethical hacker for the last three decades, FC has helped thousands of banks, governments and other organisations advance their security. He has shared his expertise in mainstream media, including the BBC and ITV, as well as popular industry podcasts such as Darknet Diaries (episode 66).
In 2024, FC spent most of the year as fractional, interim CISO of the USA arm of a large global retailer. This unique perspective – hacker turned CISO – enables him to communicate about security from a business perspective as well as an attacker’s mindset. The decades FC has spent legally breaking into organisations, both physically and digitally, have taken him around the globe in the fight against cybercrime.
His time as the Head of Offensive Research at Raytheon enables him to bring to bear his knowledge of how nation states and the intelligence community work with cyber weapons and how to defend against them. More recently engaged as a CISO, FC’s career continues to take unique turns. There is no area of cyber security that he cannot cover when delivering to an audience.
Whilst FC is his memorable real name (it really is what’s on his passport!), he is often better known by his hacker handle ‘Freakyclown’. The name that was given to him by bullies as a schoolboy has now been turned into a positive alter ego for FC to educate the world on cyber security issues.
