Francois Bourdoncle has an extensive background in engineering and R&D, and is an author and a frequent speaker at industry events.
He is a pioneer of Big Data and Search technologies and is currently CEO of FB&Cie.
Previously, he was the co-founder and CEO of Exalead, a global provider of Enterprise Search products and Search Based Applications. After ten years in existence, the company was acquired in 2010 by Dassault Systèmes for $200M.
Prior to founding Exalead, he played a leading role on the LiveTopics project for AltaVista. He was a senior researcher with Digital Paris Research Laboratory and Digital Systems Research Center in Palo Alto, California. He was also an Associate Professor at Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole Normale Supérieure for 15 years. He is a graduate of Ecole Polytechnique, Ingénieur au corps des Mines, and earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Ecole Polytechnique.
Mr. Bourdoncle is a member of the French Society for Informatics and of the French Commission for Innovation 2030, and has been appointed co-head of the French Big Data Initiative. He is also Chevalier dans l’Ordre National de la Légion d’Honneur and Chevalier dans l’Ordre National du Mérite. In 2005, he was awarded the French Engineer of the Year Prize, and received the Louis Armand Prize in 1987.
