Freya Anderson is a rising star in the swimming world, and having medalled at every competition in her career so far she’s on track for a successful future in the sport.
Freya burst on to the senior swimming scene in 2018, setting a precedent for herself at the European Championships in Glasgow as she took home four medals from her first senior outing. Continuing her good form at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, Freya contributed to two bronze medals with Team England.
Freya’s Olympic debut in Tokyo 2020 saw her once as a strong anchor leg in the team events. Freya Anderson swam the heats of the mixed medley relay breaking the Olympic Record in the process and the team then went on to secure gold in the final. To come away from her first Olympic Games with a gold medal was a dream come true and a few months later Freya was recognised for her services to swimming in the 2022 New Years Honours list, being awarded an MBE.
Passionate about young people retaining their involvement in sport and an advocate for mental health, Freya Anderson is an eloquent and insightful voice of the younger generation.
“You don’t rise to the occasion, you sink to the level of your training.”
