Paul Maskall is an observant, humorous and insightful orator with a great belief that technology isn’t necessarily the enemy, but our relationship with it could certainly do with some work. Venturing into the world of cognitive heuristics, habits, the technological environment, social media, and emotional projection, Paul explores the blurry line where we and our technology meet. Placing emphasis on how our own psychology and behaviour are impacted and altered when interacting online.
Beginning his career in law enforcement, Paul spent time in both intelligence and counterterrorism, where he made the first forays into his research by understanding online radicalisation. Later moving into a role in cybercrime and fraud, he continued to explore the behavioural foundations of our vulnerability to manipulation, where his passion for the subject has led him to apply it to a myriad of online risks and our own wellbeing.
A specialist in fraud, cybercrime, vulnerability, and online manipulation, Paul Maskall emphasises the fact that the risk has much more to do with our own emotional subjectivity, and well-being. An award-winning presenter and trainer, his energetic and passionate delivery of a subject that impacts every facet of our lives is met with acclaim. Delivering his unique message across the financial industry, law enforcement, corporate environments, and throughout the media, his work has been impactful and thought provoking across strategy and culture.
Paul is an experienced keynote speaker, host and trainer, and tailors his work to different contexts and audiences with ease. Regularly appearing on TV series such as BBC Morning Live, For love or Money and Crimewatch and featuring on Radio 1, 1xtra and Radio 4’s Moneybox.
Growing up caring for his mother with multiple sclerosis (MS) since the age of four and as an exceptionally early adopter of technology, Paul Maskall experienced firsthand how our own environment, isolation, and narrative can shape our vulnerability.
