Peter Hill has extensive experience at the highest levels of government. He was the CEO of 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) from 2019 to 2022. Before that, Peter was the Principal Private Secretary to the Prime Minister, Director General of the Prime Minister’s Office at Number 10 Downing Street and the Prime Minister’s Sherpa for the G7 and G20.
His previous roles included four years as Director of Strategy at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office under three Foreign Secretaries as well as roles in the Office for Security and Counter-Terrorism in the Home Office. In 2009-2010 he worked at the independent Chilcot Inquiry into the Iraq conflict. Between 2006-2009 Peter was in the Cabinet of the European Trade Commissioner, Peter Mandelson and subsequently Catherine Ashton. He has also worked on a range of security and multilateral issues in the FCO and overseas.
Peter now advises clients on UK politics, geopolitics, climate and the net zero transition. He is also chair of Pathways Global, a UK-based climate nonprofit organisation.
