Sturla Henriksen is an acclaimed commentator on a broad range of global maritime-related topics.
As of January 2018 he has been appointed Special Advisor on Oceans to the UN Global Compact. Prior to this, he served for ten years as Chief Executive Officer of the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association, which is the trade-, employers- and contingency-association for one of the world’s largest and most advanced merchant and offshore fleets. He has served at the boards of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) and the European Community Shipowners’ Association (ECSA), and as Deputy Chairman of the DNVGL Council.
Sturla Henriksen has been member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on the Arctic. His professional career includes ten years of experience from strategic management consulting, in which he held a position as Senior Executive of Accenture.
Sturla Henriksen has also held positions in the Norwegian Ministry of Finance, the Norwegian Central Bureau of Statistics, the EU Commission Services (Brussels), the European Free Trade Association (Geneva) and as officer in the Norwegian Defence Forces.
