Biography

Henri Giscard d’Estaing has been chairman of the board and Chief Executive Officer of Club Méditerranée since March 2005. In October, 2001, he became a General Director, and from December 16, 2002, he served as CEO, replacing Philippe Bourguignon. He has also been an administrator of Groupe Casino since 2004, and a member of Vedior’s oversight council since April 28, 2006.

By basing these new strategic priorities on Club Med’s undisputed competitive advantages, Henri and his team of senior manages have set themselves the objective of satisfying existing customers, winning over new customers and mobilizing their GOs so that Club Med – the inventor of happiness – can quickly get back on the road to growth and profitability in the interests of all its shareholders.

Before being appointed Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer, Henri Giscard d’Estaing had been Chairman of the Board (2002-2005), Club Med’s Director General (2001-2002) and President of Jet Tours, having previously held the post of Deputy Director General with responsibility for Finance, Development & International Relations since 1997.

Having joined the Dannon Group in 1987, he successfully fulfilled his remit as Director of Development (in 1989, for example, he oversaw the buy-out of the European subsidiaries of the US food group, Nabisco), Director General of the UK subsidiary, HP Food Lea & Perrins, Director General of Evian-Badoit and finally Director of the mineral water division.

He began his career with Cofremca, where between 1982 and 1987 he was Associate Director, specializing in the study of changes in food consumption and their repercussions in terms of marketing and strategy.

Henri Giscard d’Estaing is a graduate of the Paris Institute of Political Studies and holds a degree in economics.

He was elected to the Loir-et-Cher regional council, thereby becoming France’s youngest ever regional councilor.
