Biography
About Léonard Boussioux
Léonard Boussioux is an AI researcher and award-winning educator who helps leaders understand how human–AI collaboration can strengthen innovation, problem-solving and decision-making. He is Assistant Professor in Information Systems and Operations Management at the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business, Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering, and Affiliated Faculty at Harvard’s Laboratory for Innovation Science.
With a PhD in Operations Research from MIT, Boussioux brings a rigorous, practical perspective to generative AI, agentic systems and the future of work. His research examines how people and AI generate ideas, evaluate opportunities and make decisions, including the tensions between greater productivity and the preservation of originality, diversity and human judgement. His applied work spans healthcare, natural disaster management and environmental sustainability.
At Foster, he leads the Human-AI Operations Lab and develops hands-on AI education for students, executives and industry professionals. His teaching encourages participants to become “AI champions”: people who can frame useful problems, build working solutions and evaluate their results. He has contributed to MIT’s Universal AI initiative and delivered talks and workshops for audiences at Microsoft, MIT, Stanford, Columbia, Harvard and UC Berkeley, among others.
Boussioux has received 11 teaching and mentorship awards across MIT and the University of Washington, including MIT’s Goodwin Medal. In 2026, he was named to Poets&Quants’ Best 40-Under-40 Business Professors and the Puget Sound Business Journal’s 40 Under 40. His research has appeared in Organization Science, Management Science, npj Digital Medicine and other scholarly publications, and he has co-authored work for MIT Sloan Management Review.
His sessions combine research, storytelling and practical demonstrations to make complex ideas accessible. Whether discussing AI-assisted creativity, new ways of organizing work or the next generation of AI tools, he equips audiences to ask better questions, experiment thoughtfully and identify where human expertise matters most.
