Biography

Maff Potts went from his own challenges with mental health and homelessness to running the largest homeless provider in the UK in 7 years. In that time he also turned the Millennium Dome into a homeless shelter, re-wrote the UK Government’s policy for homeless centres and oversaw the funding of £170million worth of homeless projects. Outside of homelessness he set up the “Power to Change” Trust for the National Lottery Community Fund which supports community owned businesses across England.

Having been a CEO of charities and housing associations he now believes that real social change comes through social movements and has set up Camerados.

Camerados helps communities open public living rooms where people having tough times can look out for each other. They have done this in hospitals, libraries, prisons, football stadia and other locations in the UK and around the world.

In 2025 Maff Potts authored “Friends and Purpose: Stories from Sofas on Streets and Some Confounding Ideas for Tough Times”, which shares remarkable and often humorous stories from his three decades in social justice work, highlighting human connection over institutional solutions.
