Biography

Mark Pougatch is one of the UK’s most experienced sports broadcasters. He is ITV’s Chief Sports Presenter, leading coverage of major tournaments including the FIFA World Cup, UEFA European Championship, FA Cup, Rugby World Cup and Six Nations.

A trusted voice in live sport, Mark regularly presents to audiences of millions and is known for his calm authority, sharp insight and ability to guide complex, fast-moving broadcasts with confidence. In 2025, ITV renewed his presenting contract through to 2028, reflecting his continued role at the heart of the network’s sports coverage.

Alongside his work for ITV, Mark presents Premier League programming for international audiences and has worked with Stan Sport Australia on UEFA Champions League and rugby coverage. He is also co-host of Sport is History – How It All Played Out, available on Spotify and Apple.

Mark spent 25 years at BBC Radio 5 Live, including sixteen years presenting 5 Live Sport and Sports Report. In that role, he covered many of the world’s biggest sporting events, including Olympic Games, Football World Cups, Rugby World Cups, Cricket World Cups, The Ashes, The Ryder Cup, The Commonwealth Games, Wimbledon, Six Nations tournaments, FA Cup finals and Champions League fixtures. He became the longest-serving presenter in the history of Sports Report, the world’s oldest sports radio programme, and was named Sports Presenter of the Year by the Sports Journalists’ Association in 2011.

Mark is a director and co-owner of Fever Media, a production company specialising in commercial and long-form sports content. Its work includes Croatia: Defining A Nation for FIFA+ and football lifestyle content featuring leading international players. He is also a director at Lionheart Sport Media, training people across the sporting, corporate and business worlds.

An accomplished writer, Mark has written for The Times and is the author of Three Lions Versus The World, a history of England at the World Cup. His podcast work includes BBC Football Daily, ITV’s football programming around Euro 2020 and Inside The Tour, the story of England’s 1986–87 Ashes triumph in Australia.
