Biography

Nick Butler is the author of the weekly Financial Times blog on Energy and Power and is an expert on many different aspects of the rapidly changing energy market including oil prices, the development and renewable supplies and new technology, the challenge of climate change and the political issues which shape the global energy business. He is also knowledgable on how the changes in the energy market could affect other sectors of the economy.

Butler worked for BP for 29 years, including periods as Group Policy Adviser and then Head of Strategy. He subsequently worked in No 10 as senior policy adviser to the Prime Minister on business issues and since 2010 has been a Visiting Professor at Kings College London and founding Chairman of the Kings Policy Institute.
