Biography

Sameena Ali-Khan has been the main anchor for ITV News Central in the Midlands since 2005 and she also presents the ITN national news bulletins at the weekend.

She has reported on hundreds of stories, presented many outside broadcasts and interviewed guests from all walks of life, across daily news and documentaries.

After studying Physiology and Chemistry Sameena Ali Khan was drawn to journalism. She first started working on commercial radio in Manchester and then moved to BBC Radio Lancashire. Sameena remained with the BBC working at the Asian Network, BBC West Midlands, BBC London and Radio 5 Live.

On TV (aside from a debut appearance made whilst living in Nigeria on the country’s equivalent of Blue Peter) Sameena Ali-Khan presented and reported for BBC Northwest Today, Inside Out, and BBC Midlands Today before moving to ITV.

Her presenting style is warm, intelligent and authoritative and she has won numerous awards during her broadcasting career including three RTS Best Onscreen Personality awards and two RTS National News Programme awards.

She has two children, loves cooking, travelling and music. She is also a judge for Pride of Birmingham and regularly speaks at colleges to the next generation of broadcasters.
