Just 3% of leaders feel completely confident to build great team culture. Not because they don’t care, but because nobody ever made it practical. Backed by Shane’s national research with over 1,000 people leaders, this keynote hands your leaders the conversations that turn culture from a poster on the wall into something they build deliberately, week by week. Audiences discover why 95% of people leaders say culture is the outcome of small decisions over time, why the leaders closest to the work matter more than the boardroom, and exactly which conversations move a team from culture by accident to culture by design. Practical, funny and immediately usable. They’ll walk out knowing what to do on Monday.

Keeping Culture Human: Building connection in the era of AI
The more machine the work becomes, the more human the culture has to be. The more machine the work becomes, the more human the culture has to be. As organisations race to embed AI into everything, the question that will separate thriving teams from hollowed-out ones isn’t technological, it’s cultural: will your people still feel connected, trusted and valued while everything around them changes? Drawing on his research with over 1,000 people leaders, Shane makes the case that the human skills of leadership, the conversations, the trust-building, the belonging, are about to become your organisation’s scarcest resource and its sharpest competitive edge. A practical playbook for holding the human centre of a team through the biggest workplace transformation in a generation. Timely, hopeful, and free of both AI hype and AI panic.

Gen Z Uncensored: Five generations, one culture

Gen Z isn’t breaking your workplace. It’s revealing what was already broken. For the first time in history, five generations share the workplace, and the youngest is asking out loud the questions every generation wondered about silently: why do we work this way, who decided, and what do we actually stand for? Drawing on generational research and Shane’s national study of over 1,000 people leaders, this session cuts through the headlines and the stereotypes to show what really matters to the newest generation at work, and how smart leaders use that energy to build one culture that five generations genuinely want to belong to. Expect myth-busting, laugh-out-loud generational truths, and a practical framework for turning generational friction into cultural fuel.

Trusted to Lead: The power of positioning in culture change
Culture change moves at the speed of trust in the people leading it. It’s why so many transformations stall: the strategy is right, the values are printed, and yet nothing moves, because only 3 in 10 people leaders strongly agree their leaders actually demonstrate the values on the wall. That…
Culture change moves at the speed of trust in the people leading it. It’s why so many transformations stall: the strategy is right, the values are printed, and yet nothing moves, because only 3 in 10 people leaders strongly agree their leaders actually demonstrate the values on the wall. That gap between what leaders say and what people see is a positioning problem, and this keynote is about closing it. Drawing on his research, where lack of trust ranked as the number one culture killer, Shane unpacks the four elements that determine whether people follow a leader into change: character, narrative, credibility and reputation. Every leader walks out knowing how they’re currently positioned, and what to do about it.

Most sessions ask an audience to sit and listen. Culture Karaoke hands them the playlist. Before and during the event, delegates choose from a songbook of the culture questions that keep leaders up at night, and vote them up the chart. The music rolls, Shane takes the mic, and the room gets sharp, research-backed answers with the energy of a Friday night and the substance of a national study of over 1,000 people leaders. No two sessions are the same, because no two audiences ask for the same setlist.
Biography
About Shane Michael Hatton
Shane Michael Hatton is a team culture expert, leadership communicator and bestselling author who helps leaders build the culture they want, one conversation at a time. Combining deep research with real-world experience, he equips organisations to design culture deliberately rather than leaving it to chance.
After years of hearing leaders say culture mattered but rarely hearing what to do about it, Shane commissioned a national study of 1,002 people leaders to understand what culture means on the frontline. The overwhelming majority said culture was crucial, yet only 3% felt completely confident to shape it. That gap became the foundation of his bestselling book Let’s Talk Culture: The Conversations You Need to Create the Team You Want, and the practical model at the centre of his work.
Shane Michael Hatton is also the author of Lead the Room: Communicate a Message That Counts in Moments That Matter, which explores how leaders communicate with clarity, confidence and influence. His work sits at the intersection of leadership, communication and culture, helping leaders turn values into visible behaviours and everyday decisions.
With more than a decade as a professional speaker and facilitator, Shane Hatton has worked in over 30 cities across 13 countries. Now based in London, he maintains a strong footprint across the UK, Australia and the USA, partnering with organisations across sectors to develop leaders at all levels.
Known for making complex ideas simple and actionable, Shane Michael Hatton delivers highly engaging keynotes and workshops that blend stories, research and practical tools. Audiences leave his sessions with clear language for talking about culture, a sharper understanding of their role as leaders, and concrete next steps they can apply immediately with their teams.

"Shane is just the master of turning something which could be quite dry into something that’s really fun!"
"The energy was electrifying in the room and every time that he comes he brings something new that you can take and that you can implement straight away. We’ve had a range of people reach out and ask ‘how can I get more from Shane’ and so we’ve implemented more programs that have sold out immediately. Shane is somebody who you can get more and more out of the more he understands your organisation."
"I was at a conference where I was speaking after Shane. I like the person before me to not be very good, because then I look great. And I was watching him and thinking I am in serious trouble. This guy is really funny, really clever, there are a million take outs, he’s really interactive with the audience, he’s absolutely brilliant!"
"I had the pleasure of working with Shane at the Public Sector Comms Leaders conference where I saw him speak. Not only is Shane exceptionally entertaining as a speaker, but he is also extremely informative. As someone who works with coaches and speakers on the day-to-day, I couldn't recommend Shane more. He was the highlight of the conference."
"Shane stepped in to MC the first day of the People Leaders in Retail event I was organising and he was simply fantastic! Before the event he was amazing to work with - efficient, helpful, friendly and even helped me fill a very last minute speaker gap that came up (who was also fantastic). He's very adaptable and almost nothing was too much for him to help with! He ended up leading a leadership roundtable at the event also, which was one of the most well-attended roundtables at the event. He's clear, energetic and passionate - all round, a pleasure to work with."
“Shane was extremely engaging and the content was perfect for our team based on the brief we had provided. We had a lot of feedback at the end from attendees with regards to Shane’s session.”
