Axel Weber was Bundesbank President (the German Central Bank) from 2004 to 2011. He was appointed Chairman at UBS, a position which he took up in 2012.
In 2002 Axel became a member of the Advisory Council to the German Federal Government (Council of Economic Experts), to which he belonged until his move to the German Bundesbank. He was also the Director of the Center for Financial Studies in Frankfurt.
He sits on the University Council of both the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt and the University of Siegen.
Among his many other roles he is also a Member of both the Steering Committee of the Financial Stability Council and the Steering Committee of the European Committee (ESRB).
