Biography

Catherine Chabaud is a French journalist and sailor.

Catherine graduated from the Institute Practice of Journalism (IPJ) in 1983, and worked at various radio and print media companies. She was the former editor of the Journal Thalassa where she directed several documentaries on sustainable development in recent years and also conducted programs on Sustainable Development on television and radio.

Passionate about sailing, and having invested in everything related to the environment and sustainable development, Catherine speaks about the importance and urgency for protecting the seabed. She is a member of the board of the French Sailing Federation and has to her credit fourteen Atlantic crossings including four solo and two round the world solo non-stop (Vendee Globe 1996 and 2000).

Currently, she is the Project Manager for the Department of Environment and shares her unique experience through its conferences.

She was appointed as a delegate to the sea and coastline by decree of the President of the Republic in 2016.
