An experienced Cup sailor, and a grinder, Christian sailed for Ville de Paris 1992, France 2-3 in 1995, and Le Defi in 2000 before joining Team Alinghi for the 2003 campaign.
Christian, the coach for Alinghi Grinders, battles pain and infection from a long series of operations particularly in his hip. His right hip has undergone eleven operations and he walks today with a cane (which is quickly tossed aside hidden from view). Christian is studying mechanical engineering so he said, “you can draw the boats of the America’s Cup if my hip does not allow me to navigate ”
Christian returned to top physical form and sailed to achieve his goals. He became the 12-meter World Champion in 2001, won the Louis Vuitton Cup and finally won the America’s Cup in Hauraki Bay in March 2003.
In total, Christian has won the America’s Cup 4 times, with hard work, perseverance and thanks to an extraordinary passion that has allowed him to always achieve his objectives.
Christian rose from a design and manufacturing SUP (Stand Up Paddle) fully eco-designed, while simultaneously continuing his lectures and television appearances. Christian also runs a Youtube site specializing in the America’s Cup.
