Hillary Yip is a classicist with an extensive background in the tech industry. At the age of 10, she founded MinorMynas, making her recognised as one of Asia’s youngest tech founders. MinorMynas was created as a result of her passion for accessible language learning, and reached children from 60 countries.
Hillary is an experienced speaker, having given two TEDx talks before the age of 15, and a range of keynotes and panels for business and government audiences, both regionally and internationally. Her role as an inspirational female innovator was recognised at the Global Women’s Forum Dubai 2020, where she was a speaker alongside the likes of British PM Theresa May. Previous corporate clients include Microsoft, Google, PwC, and Proctor and Gamble. In recent years, she has given keynotes for Aegeas, and the Sharjah government. Her story has been featured in
international media, including BBC, CCTV, SCMP, and Great Big Story. With her interest in education, she has also delivered a variety of workshops on entrepreneurial skills for children, including for Apple and HSBC.
Today, Hillary’s primary focus is on Classics, as well as a deep commitment to advocating for a renewed embrace of humanities education in the AI age. Hillary hopes to provide fresh insight on technology and youth, both from her personal perspective as a student and from her decade’s worth of industry experience. She is currently a postgraduate student of Classics at the University of Oxford, and graduated from Durham University with first class honours. As a Classicist, she is most interested in improving accessibility to the subject. Continuing with her passion for languages, she has taught ab initio Latin for the Institute for Classics Education, a charity based in the US. Hillary is a keen translator, published in a variety of journals, including those from the University of Chicago and Iowa, and illustrator, having contributed to Attic Inscriptions Online and the book ‘Epic Women of Homer’ (2025) by E.S Allen.
