How data, wearables, and HRV turn insight into sustainable performance.
We are all becoming data donors.
Every day, leaders generate streams of personal data through wearables, smartphones, platforms, and digital tools — often without fully understanding what that data actually says about their health and performance.
In the domain of leadership and wellbeing, wearables and biofeedback technologies promise clarity: better sleep, more energy, faster recovery. But without the right framework, data easily becomes noise, anxiety, or optimization overload.
In this keynote, Lieven cuts through the hype and explains which metrics truly matter when it comes to sustainable performance — and which ones don’t. He shows how leading organizations are beginning to use physiological data to better understand stress, recovery, and decision-making capacity, while respecting autonomy and ethics.
A central focus of the keynote is Heart Rate Variability (HRV) — the single most powerful indicator of nervous system balance, recovery capacity, and long-term resilience. Lieven explains why HRV is increasingly becoming a boardroom-relevant metric and how leaders can use it to guide behavior change, not just track outcomes.
Rather than promoting extreme biohacking, this keynote reframes data and technology as feedback tools: helping leaders listen to their biology, experiment intelligently, and build habits that last.

“I don’t have the energy to continue.”
It’s a sentence Lieven hears more and more from senior leaders — not because they lack ambition or discipline, but because their energy systems are depleted.
The speed, complexity, and constant cognitive load of today’s work environment take a measurable toll. More than half of leaders report chronic stress and early signs of burnout, while many struggle to stay focused, recover properly, and maintain clarity in both work and life.
In this inspirational and experiential keynote, Lieven introduces the three energy principles from his book Fully Charged. Leaders learn how to:
- Optimize focus in a world of constant distraction
- Turn recovery into a leadership skill
- Increase their total energy capacity over time
The keynote is grounded in neuroscience, physiology, and data. Participants gain practical, science-based tools they can immediately apply to their daily routines.
The result is not only better health and resilience, but clearer thinking, better decisions, and more consistent leadership performance — without running on empty.

How leaders turn pressure into resilience, clarity, and growth.
In this keynote, Lieven draws from his personal journey as an ultrarunner and leadership performance expert to challenge one of today’s most persistent myths: that stress is something we must eliminate to perform well.
From an evolutionary perspective, short, well-dosed periods of stress have helped humans survive, adapt, and thrive. When regulated correctly, stress can strengthen us physically, mentally, and emotionally. The real problem is not stress itself, but chronic, unmanaged stress.
During the keynote, participants don’t just learn about stress — they experience how their nervous system responds and how they can actively influence their own stress levels in real time. Through practical demonstrations and simple interventions, Lieven shows how leaders can shift from being overwhelmed by pressure to using it as a performance enhancer.
The session is highly practical. Leaders leave with hands-on tools they can immediately apply in their daily work — tools to recover faster, regulate stress more effectively, and use pressure to their advantage without burning out.
