Nicola Kimm is a pioneer in the field of integrating sustainability into corporate strategies, activities and processes. She is an internationally recognised leader with a wealth of experience from top multinational companies, which she has led into a green future with great success.
In 2021, Dr Nicola Kimm became the first woman to be appointed to the Management Board of Heidelberg Materials, where she took over the newly created sustainability department as the company’s first Chief Sustainability Officer. Until 2023, she was also a member of the Supervisory Board of EQT AB and Chairwoman of the Sustainability Committee as well as a member of the Supervisory Board of Dunlop Protective Footwear.
A graduate ecologist, chemical engineer and industrial engineer with a doctorate, she has 28 years of international professional experience, including in sustainability functions at BASF, Corbion/CSM and Philips. There she worked in the areas of R&D/innovation, technology, business development/launch of new products, regulatory affairs, EHS/safety and communications. Nicola has held two non-executive board positions and was the first chair of a sustainability committee in the private equity industry.
Nicola has a wealth of sustainability experience in developing and implementing leading, award-winning sustainability programmes at multinational companies in the building materials, electronics, food and chemicals sectors. Throughout her career she has played a key role in the introduction of new technologies and business models (carbon capture, LED/networked lighting, sustainable packaging) and positioning/certification of sustainable products and is at the forefront of integrated reporting, impact measurement and appropriate scrutiny of ESG metrics.
