P V Sindhu a professional badminton player and currently world no.2 in the BWF World Ranking. At the 2016 Summer Olympics, she became the first Indian woman to win an Olympic silver medal. She is one of two Indian badminton players to ever win an Olympic medal.
Pusarla Venkata Sindhu came to international attention when she broke into the tope 20 of the BWF World Ranking in 2012 at the age of 17. In 2013, she became the first ever Indian women’s singles player to win a medal at the Badminton World Championships.
With former volleyball players for parents, it is only natural that sports had always been her calling and she started playing Badminton at the age of eight.
In 2015, she received the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honour.
