Biography

Remi Krug who retired as President of the House of Krug in January 2007, is a tireless ambassador whose passion for his craft and pride in his remarkable product remain undiminished after more than forty years in the business.

Remi became Managing Director of Krug in 1973 and then President from 2002 to 2007. Now officially retired from operational responsibilities, he continues as Honorary Chairman assisting the House of Krug on specific matters such as tastings and strategic vision.

Remi’s extrovert personality and talents as a communicator naturally led him towards international sales and marketing, and he travelled extensively throughout the world promoting the image of Krug champagne and maintaining the company’s close relationships with Krug lovers. A fluent speaker of English and Italian, he was instrumental in cementing Krug’s traditional ties with the UK, reintroducing Krug to the US, and making Italy, at one point, the company’s largest market.

Remi was Chairman of Comité Colbert from 1998 to 2002. This association is a group of the 70 most famous French luxury houses and collectively promotes the excellence of French Art. He is also Chairman of l’Institut des Hautes Etudes du Goût, de La Gastronomie et des Arts de la Table. Established in 2004 and based at Reims University, this Institute offers a uniquely multi-disciplinary advanced course on all aspects of knowledge and research on taste, gastronomy and art de la table.

He recently founded RK Conseil, a consultancy aimed at sharing his particular experiences in the luxury goods world and assisting others explore the possibilities of value creation by “learning from luxury”.
