Biography

Greg Cross is a pioneer within the field of Artificial Intelligence. He is a serial entrepreneur and one of the world’s original technology nomads, who has spent his career traveling and living in every major market in the world.

In 2016 Greg Cross teamed up with Dr. Mark Sagar to create Soul Machines, a company focused on humanizing the next generation of computer technologies. The University of Auckland spin-out company was founded based on the BabyX technology created by Dr Mark Sagar and his engineering research team at the University’s Laboratory for Animate Technologies at the Auckland Bioengineering Institute

A groundbreaking high tech company of AI researchers, neuroscientists, psychologists, artists and innovative thinkers, the company is re-imagining what is possible in Human Computing. Soul Machines, by combining a human face with brain models, literally bring computers to life in a very human way: life-like, emotionally responsive, with personality and character.

Whether they are delivering digital humans as virtual customer service and sales agents or human like characters that can engage, direct and teach in an interactive and/or immersive AR/VR experience there is every chance you will end up conversing with a “soul machine” in your future.

Greg Cross sold his previous company PowerbyProxi, one of the world’s leading wireless power companies, to Apple in October 2017. He was also Chairman of The ICEHOUSE, named in 2010 by Forbes Magazine as one of the top 10 technology incubators in the world. He is the Sir John Logan Campbell Executive in Residence at the University of Auckland Business School.
