Sir Richard Moore served as Chief (”C”) of the UK’s Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) from 2020 to 2025, capping a distinguished 40-year career in intelligence, diplomacy and national security leadership.
He is Senior Strategist to Sixth Street, a leading global investment firm, Senior Advisor to Teneo and is a member of the Global Advisory Council of Bank of America. He is also Chair of the Kennedy Memorial Trust and serves on the Global Advisory Board of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
As Chief of MI6, he refocused the organisation on its core mission of human intelligence during a period marked by renewed great-power competition, war in Europe and the Middle East, and rapid technological disruption. He modernised the Service, fostered a more outward-facing culture, and strengthened collaboration with global intelligence partners and private-sector technology leaders to ensure the Service remained a world-leading intelligence organisation in an increasingly digital and contested environment.
Previously, he served as Political Director at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, Deputy National Security Adviser, and British Ambassador to Turkey, with earlier postings in Vietnam, Pakistan, Malaysia and Turkey. He was knighted in 2023 for services to UK national security and foreign policy.
A graduate of Oxford and Harvard (as a Kennedy Scholar), he brings deep expertise in geopolitical risk, strategic competition and the intersection of government, technology and global markets.
