Born in Zurich, Switzerland, Peter Hacker is a worldwide multi-lingual authority on cyber risks and technological change. He has dedicated his research and work to cyber security and cybercrime for many years.

Over the past 15 years alone, Hacker has been a catalyzer and trusted expert to Top Management and Senior Executives from insurance, banking, critical infrastructure, retail, telecommunications, media, and technology companies across more than 90 countries. Being a Risk Thought Leader in Financial Services, his global expertise is sought after by Corporations, International and Regional Organizations, Regulators and Rating Agencies. In 2019 these included the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the financial regulator in Singapore (MAS), the Singapore Reinsurance Association (SRA) and the International Insurance Society (IIS) in New York.

Peter Hacker addresses cybercrime and digital change as fundamental enterprise challenges and opportunities. He talks about bare facts and asks questions that can be uncomfortable, but at the same time are inevitable and help his clients stay on the front foot. Before co-founding Distinction.Global, an independent observatory for cyber security and risk in 2019, Peter Hacker held senior positions in the Financial Services and ICT Industries in London, New York, Singapore, and Zurich. In 2019, he developed a research paper for the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), the Singapore Reinsurance Association (SRA) and some leading Asian and European Financial Institutions analyzing potential economic and insurance cost following emerging threats (non-kinetic warfare) and disaster scenarios (cloud provider failure, power outage) in Asia, Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

Peter holds a university degree in economics from the HWZ University of Applied Sciences Zurich, a dual MBA degree from London Business School (LBS) and Columbia Business School (CBS) NY (both with distinction/honors). In 2004 he got nominated for the international honorary society “Beta Gamma Sigma”.
