Biography

Rachel Lomax is a renowned economist who served as Deputy Governor at the Bank of England.

Lomax was a member of the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee for five years between 2003-08. She was previously Permanent Secretary at the UK Government Departments for Transport, Work and Pensions and the Welsh Office, and Chief of Staff to the President of the World Bank.

Lomax’s extensive experience of international financial policy making at the highest levels makes her a heavy weight commentator on economic matters today. She draws on her extensive experience to speak on macroeconomics, the financial markets, monetary policy, public-private sector issues and global institutional reform.

Lomax was on the board of HSBC from 2008-17 and was involved with City UK and IRSG between 2013-16. She is currently non-executive director of Heathrow Airport, Serco and SETL, as well as a trustee of Bruegel, a Brussels-based European think tank of which she was formerly director.
