Dr. Vanessa Carpenter is a speaker, author, design strategist, and femtech expert working at the intersection of women’s health, human-centred design, digital literacy, and meaningful innovation. She holds a PhD in Designing for Meaningfulness in Future Smart Products from Aalborg University and brings together academic depth, design practice, entrepreneurship, and public engagement.
Vanessa is the Founder and Designer of Kintsugi Design, Co-Founder of Nordic Women’s Health Hub and Femtech Studios, and Co-Leader of FabLab Ærø. Her work focuses on howproducts, services, technologies, and learning experiences can be designed to be not only functional, but genuinely meaningful, culturally aware, and responsive to real human needs. She is especially interested in overlooked experiences, taboo subjects, and the ways design can make complex issues more visible, discussable, and actionable. She is the author of the forthcoming book Designing Femtech, which explores how design, technology, women’s health, and culture intersect, and why the future of femtech must be shaped by more than market opportunity alone. Her work challenges founders, organisations, and innovation teams to move beyond superficial inclusion and toward more thoughtful, evidence-informed, and responsible approaches to innovation.
Vanessa is a member of the Danish Design Council, an expert for IDA and the Manyone Design Panel, and a former jury member for the Danish Design Award. Across her work, she has contributed to conversations about design, technology, health innovation, education, and the future of digital society.
