Peter Rehwinkel is a former politician, senator and mayor and now runs a global crisis management consultancy.
Rehwinkel’s starting point was “what does one do in a crisis?”. Crises seem far away but are increasingly common. Natural disasters, epidemics, war and terrorist attacks feature in the news constantly.
Rehwinkel has headed several national and international delegations on disaster response and recovery and was involved with the World Bank, UN-agencies like UNOCHA, UNISDR, UNDP and UN-Habitat, USAID, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the European Commission.
He targets both governments and companies with themes like: Crisis? What Not To Do! In business, Rehwinkel gives insights in areas such as hostile takeovers, strikes, cyber attacks, etc.
He recently started International Disaster and Crisis Management. IDCM has its base in Barcelona, the international hub of disaster and crisis management. Barcelona hosts the City Resilience Programme by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).
The Worldwide Association of Cities and Municipalities, United Cities Local Governments (UCLG), has asked Peter Rehwinkel to head an international delegation to survey help after the flow of displaced Syrians in Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan.
